At our Halifax dental office, our dentists perform a variety of oral surgery procedures to treat dental issues and improve your oral health.
What is Oral Surgery?
Oral surgery is the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases, injuries, or other conditions affecting the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, teeth, and jaws.
Sometimes surgery may be required when less invasive procedures aren't an option. At Atlantic Dental Centre we perform implants and extractions to help keep your smile healthy.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small screw made of titanium that is inserted into the jawbone and functions like a natural tooth root. The implant serves as an anchor for an artificial tooth that will be inserted upon the implant healing.
Tooth Extractions
While it's always preferable to save a natural tooth, there are some cases where it's not possible. If a tooth is too badly damaged as a result of decay, gum disease, or injury, it may need to be removed by your dentist.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of a normal adult mouth. If the wisdom teeth are causing problems for your oral hygiene, or there is no space for them to properly come in, your dentist may recommend removing them to help preserve your oral health.
